How to Edit a GIF Without Photoshop


This article explains how to edit GIF files using a simple, free online GIF maker, instead of complicated and costly software, like Photoshop. These instructions work for either Windows or macOS users.

How to Edit a GIF Using EZGIF.com

EZGIF.com is an online GIF maker and editor with fairly simple steps for editing a GIF. Here are some of the things you can do with it.

Add or Remove Images From the GIF

  1. Launch your favorite browser and go to ezgif.com.

  • Select GIF Maker.

  • Select Choose Files in the Animated GIF Maker screen.

  • Select the GIF file you want to modify and then select Open.

If you want to add any images to your GIF, select them along with the GIF file.

  • Select Upload and make a GIF.

  • Rearrange the order of the images. Select Skip on the images you want to remove from the GIF file. When you're done, select Save.

  • Browse to the folder you want to save your edited GIF file, give it a file name and then select Save.

  1. Open your edited GIF and enjoy.

How to Resize a GIF

  1. Follow Steps 1-5 above.

  • After the file opens, select Resize.

  • Enter the new measurements in the Width and Height fields or resize by entering a percentage of the original size in the Percentage field and then select Resize the image.

  • Select Save under the Resized Image.

  • Browse to the folder where you want to save your edited GIF file, give it a file name, and select Save.

  1. Open your edited GIF and enjoy.

How to Rotate a GIF

  1. Follow Steps 1-5 above to add your GIF file to EZGIF.com.

  • When the file opens, select Rotate.

  • Select the angle for the rotation or define your own rotation angle using the last rotate option and then select Apply rotation.

  • Select Save under the Rotated Image.

  • Browse to the folder where you want to save your rotated GIF file, give it a name and then select Save.
